On April 10, 2026, the third edition of BankTech Day took place. It is the go-to event for financial innovation. Organized by Finance Innovation, the event gathered industry leaders at the Shangri-La Paris to decipher the shifts in sovereign banking.
Following the success of the previous edition at the Opéra Garnier, QuickSign renewed its partnership with this central event. We organized a panel discussion with BoursoBank and Revolut to confront the promise of instant financing with the operational realities of the market.
QuickSign round-table – “From Time to Yes to the European Wallet: Is the promise of instant lending finally here?”
For this edition, we brought together a panel of experts:
- Caroline Zanaret-Giros, Deputy CEO at BoursoBank
- Jean Lecomte, COO Western Europe at Revolut
- Thibaut Ravisé, CEO and Co-founder of QuickSign
- The debate was moderated by Charles Plessis (B-Part Consulting).
Four strong convictions emerged from the discussions:
1. “Time to Yes” is not a universal answer
Speed is a relative criterion. While it is vital for a consumer loan, Caroline Zanaret-Giros points out that it is secondary for mortgages. In that case, the client is primarily looking for the solidity of the offer and the best rate. The challenge is therefore to adapt the onboarding speed to the financial product being offered.
2. Open Banking and the operational challenge of fallback
At Revolut, Open Banking is at the heart of the strategy, accounting for 100% of originations. However, the challenge remains ensuring security and convincing customers to adopt this technology. Thibaut Ravisé highlighted that 50% of loan applications in the sector still undergo manual processing. The challenge is no longer about collecting more data, but better analyzing it. This is where fallback solutions become crucial: when Open Banking is not possible, AI-powered automated document verification covers customer needs without returning to manual intervention.
3. The EUDI Wallet (eIDAS 2): A “Holy Grail” under certain conditions
As Caroline Zanaret-Giros emphasized, the future digital identity wallet could become the ultimate accelerator for both “Time to Yes” and “Time to No.” However, its success will depend on actual adoption and its ability to truly counter fraud. Caroline reminded the audience that the challenge of “money mules” will not disappear.
Finally, the question of the business model remains a major question mark for this new system, as raised by Thibaut Ravisé: “Digital identity in a smartphone is great, but who is going to pay to certify the attributes within the wallet?”.
4. Towards a European “Universal Credit”
According to Jean Lecomte, the real financing challenge lies in total harmonization, allowing a customer to seamlessly transfer their loans within the EU. It is a compelling vision that requires regulatory convergence… which is still far off. But it is essential for building true European financial sovereignty.
